On April 4, 1980, in Monticello, Andy was united in marriage to Fay Bullock Winkler, who survives at their home.
He was a graduate of Richard High School in Peoria, Illinois. Andy was a Navy veteran, serving his country in the Vietnam War.
He was an ordained minister with the Church of the Nazarene organization, serving churches in Louisiana, Arkansas and Missouri. For more than 25 years, Andy answered the Lord’s call; pastoring in churches large and small.
He was an accomplished musician, playing various instruments, but was truly gifted on the guitar. He, along with his wife, Fay used the gift of their voices to provide music for the worship service during his ministry and for several years after he retired.
Andy and Fay most recently lived in the Stover area, where he could enjoy the outdoors, hunting deer and turkey and spend time with a fishing pole in his hand.
In addition to his wife of 38 years, he is survived by six children and their spouses, Andrew Jr. and Jay Hitchcock of Canada; Robert and Lisa Hitchcock of Canada; Trisha and John Kursea of California; Tracy and Van McLain of Tennessee; Jessica and Dave Hall of Arkansas and Wesley and Erica Winkler of Illinois; sixteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Benny Hitchcock.
