Burl Hamelton Hitchcock, 81, of Etowah, died early Friday morning, Feb. 24, 2006, at Etowah Health Care Center. A native of Lookout, West Virginia and resident of McMinn County for the past 14 years, he was a son of the late Claude and Elizabeth Ann Howell Hitchcock. He was a member of Stephensville Baptist Church, was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II, and was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Campbell Hitchcock of Englewood; 2 daughters and 1 son-in-law, Catherine Riggs of Savannah, GA and Glenda and Sam Brewer of Ball Ground, GA; 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law, Michael Hitchcock of Tehachapi, CA and Andrew and Fay Hitchcock of Monroe, LA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 3 sisters and 1 brother-in-law, Garnet Myers and Ida and Pud Cooper, all of Mason Town, W. Virginia, and Ethel Howell of Morgantown, W. Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
