Son of William Hewlett Jones and Elizabeth Hewlett, husband of Louisa Livingston, whom he married on March 30, 1848 in New York, NY, and father of Rosalie Adele (married Walton Oakley), Louisa, Lillian, Oliver Hewlett and Elizabeth Coralie Livingston Jones (married John Lyon Gardiner).

Estate - In the Name of God, Amen, I Oliver H. Jones, of the City, County and State of New York, being now by the Grace of God of sound and disposing mind and memory and humbly acknowledging my entire dependence upon Him, do make, publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows namely; First, I direct all my debts if any I should have at my decease and my funeral expenses to be paid out of my personal estate; Second, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Louisa Livingston Jones the sum of thirty thousand dollars to be paid to her as follows. All the Camden and Amboy and Delaware and Raritan Canal Company stock which I may have standing in my name at my decease and enough of such other stocks or bonds and mortgages or both as may then belong to me to make up the aforesaid Thirty thousand dollars and it is my will and direction that my said wife should have the privilege of selecting from said stocks and bonds and mortgages such as she may prefer in order to make up the aforesaid sum of Thirty thousand dollars; Third, I further give, devise and bequeath to my said wife All the real estate now belonging to me situated on and near the corner of Broadway and Thirty first street in the City of New York which was conveyed to my by Frederick Hornby and Amanda his wife, by a certain deed executed by them bearing date the tenth day of December one thousand eight hundred and forty nine and recorded in the Office of the Registrar of the City and County of New York in Liber 532 Conveyances page 71. Also all the real estate now belonging to me at Hunters Point which was conveyed to me the Mayor Alderman and Commonalty of the City of New York by deed dated the first day of May in the year one thousand eight hundred and forty five and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of Queens County in Liber 69 of deeds page 386. And also the house in which I now reside on the Corner of the Fifth Avenue and Twenty-ninth Street in the City of New York together with all the furniture which may be contained therein at my decease to have and to hold the same that is to say the property in this Third Article mentioned and described so long as she shall remain my widow and I declare that the provision herein made for my said wife is to be in lieu of dower; Fourth, I give and bequeath to my Executor hereinafter to be named the sum of Twenty five thousand dollars for each of my children who shall be living at my decease to have and to hold the same in trust for the benefit of my said children severally and respectively each child to have the benefit of one of said sums of twenty five thousand dollars, And the trust upon which my said Executor s are to hold the same is as follows namely to invest the said several sums in such property or securities real or personal as they in their discretion may deem most advantageous and to sell and re-invest the same and change the securities from time to time and they shall think fit and to receive the income of the said several sums and apply the same to the use and benefit of such children severally during their respective minorities and as soon as each child shall become of age, then and thereafter to pay over to such child the income of his or her share in quarterly payments for and during his or her natural life the income of the shares of my daughters to be paid to them free the control of any husband and it is my will that upon the death of any of my said children the trust as to the share of such child so dying should cease and that such share should go to the issue of such child should he or she leave any surviving and if not then and in that case that such share should go to and be divided among my children then living share and share alike; Fifth, I give and devise, and bequeath all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate both real and personal to my children now living and such as may hereafter be born to me share and share alike but should any of my said children die before me and leave any issue surviving at my death then it is my will that the share of such deceased child should descend and go to such issue but should he or she so dying leave no issue surviving at my death then it is my will that the share of such deceased child should go to and be divided among my children then surviving share and share alike; Sixth, Whereas a portion of my real estate consists of property situated at Hunters Point conveyed to me the Mayor Alderman and Commonalty of the City of New York and of certain property on or near the corner of Broadway and Thirty first Street in said City conveyed to me by Frederick Hornby a certain estate in which I have hereinbefore devised to my wife and which pieces of property in my judgment are destined to increase largely in value, it is my express wish that such property be not or any part of it sold until my youngest child shall become of age; Seventh, and Last, I nominate and appoint my said wife, Louisa Livingston Jones, my brother, Samuel W. Jones, my relative, Townsend Jones, of Cold Spring, Long Island and Isaac Blydenburgh of the City of New York to be the Executors of this my will hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
