Dexter L. Johnson, age 68, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019. Dexter was a native of Colbert County and worked as a supervisor with the Appraisal Department at the Lauderdale County Revenue Commissioner’s Office for 40 years. He was a member of the Tuscumbia Church of Christ. Dexter was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved country music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Pennye Johnson.
Dexter is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Judy Garrie Johnson; daughter, Angela Johnson Hulsey (Brad); sister, Susan Johnson Haley (Paul); 3 grandchildren, Logan, Owen and Austin Hulsey; nephews, Keith Garrie (Annie), Kory Garrie (Jorista) and Kyle Garrie (Samantha); nieces, Sara Beth Haley, Laura Haley and Jamie Garrie; and numerous cousins.
His visitation will be Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Paul Haley and Jeff Abrams officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
Pallbearers will be Roger, Keith, Kory, Kyle and James Garrie, David Garrie Jr., and Brad Hulsey.
