Kevin P. Beck, 57, of Normal, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (Feb. 20, 2019) at his home.
According to Kevin’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A private celebration of his life will be held by the family.
The family has suggested for memorials to be made to the American Diabetes Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.
Kevin was born Oct. 5, 1961, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Frank and Marie Foran Beck. He married Lori Shepherd on Oct. 11, 1985, in Bloomington.
Kevin is survived by his mother, Marie Beck; his wife, Lori Beck; their children, Travis (Abby) Beck and Zachary (Christin Ross) Beck; grandchildren, McKenzie Fawns, Emma Beck and Braden Beck and his sister, Kelli (Al) Becker.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Beck.
Kevin graduated from Tri-Valley High School and worked as a supervisor in the heating and cooling department of Country Financial. Kevin was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Kevin could fix anything and frequently did. Never hesitating to help those in need, Kevin was always the first person people called when they needed help. He would give you the shirt off his back and regularly went above and beyond to help others. Kevin believed in honesty and doing right by others and lived that every day. He was a man of integrity, strength and character. His impact and the light he shined on the world will far outlive him.
He guised himself as a lone wolf, and a wolf he was for his devotion and his wisdom. But, in truth, he was a colossus, a nexus of strength for a needing family. Though he flees now to find his eternal peace, the fragments of that strength will persist within those he loved.
