Joe served honorably in the US Army and was in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. He worked for Genuine Parts Company for 43 years.
Joe was devoted to his family and his church. His time during retirement was spent visiting his children and grandchildren, helping grandson Brandon and his wife Kenna work on their new house and babysitting great grandchildren. Papa was also thrilled to take a joy ride with his 16-year grandsons, Joe and Josh, in their new cars.
Joe was a longtime and devoted member of Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church. He served his church effectively in many roles: choir member, Sunday School teacher, Lay Leader, and in other posts.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister Laura Gibson Kiker.
