VALE, N.C. - Gladys Lutz Shull, 80, of Vale passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Carolina Caring of Newton surrounded by her family following by a brief illness.
She was born November 27, 1938 to the late Evan and Sarah Hudson Lutz. Gladys was a member of Plateau United Methodist Church in Vale where she sang in the church choir. She enjoyed reading, gardening, baking cakes and cooking a Thanksgiving style feast every Sunday for lunch.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Shull Cook; brothers, Clarence Lutz, Loy Lutz, Vance Lutz, and Linton Lutz; sisters, Myrtle Sain and Margaret Lockamy.
Those left to cherish her memory is her husband of 64 years Jerry Shull of the home; son Randall Shull of Conover, Keith Shull and wife Debbie of Hickory; daughter Kim Bowen and husband Randy of Claremont; son-in-law Ralph Cook of Vale; brother Alan Lutz and wife Mary Ann of Vale; sisters Edith Hull of Vale, Bobbie Bowman of Lawndale; grandchildren Holly Chapman (PJ), Kyle Efird (Ashton), Adam Shull (Joy), Wesley Cook (fiancé Sarah), Whitney Woodward (Travis) and Abbey Shull; great-grandchildren Lainey Chapman, J.D. Shull, Emmett Shull, Josie Cook, Brook Woodward, Madison Woodward and Caroline Woodward.

A service to celebrate Gladys’ life will be held on at Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Plateau United Methodist Church in Vale. Rev. David McHale will officiate.
