The marriage of Miss Helen Louise Moody and Percival DeWitt Oviatt, a young attorney of Rochester, took place in Buffalo yesterday in the presence of the immediate relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Oviatt will make their home in Rochester after a brief journey. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Moody, of No. 7 Charlotte street.

Percival D. Oviatt Rites at 11 Today; Mayor, Attorney.
Services for Percival D. Oviatt, well known attorney for more than 50 years and mayor of Rochester in 1933, will be held today at 11 a.m. in his home at 977 Allens Creek Rd. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Oviatt died Thursday evening at his home after an illness lasting several years. He was 75.
Members of the Rochester Bar Association named to attend the services are: Andrew Oilman, J. Emmett O'Brien, Fred Forman, Judge A. J. Rodenbeck, Judge William F. Love, T. Carl Nixon, Frank E. Devans, Clarence P. Moser, John J. Reilly, Stephen J. Warren, Carroll N. Whitman, William F. Strang, Wilton A. Block, George J. Skivington Sr., William H. Emerson, William H. MacFarland, Robert C. Winchell, Paul S. Folger, and Arthur VD. Chamberlain.
Able Lawyer
Senior member of the law firm of Oviatt, Gilman, O'Brien & Forman, Mr. Oviatt was regarded as one of Rochester's most able trial lawyers. As the 51st mayor and the first one under the city manager plan, he was credited with getting Rochester on a sound financial basis in the early days of the depression.
Grandson of Wilson D. Oviatt, he was born here April 30, 1876. After attending public schools, he worked his way through college as an accountant and was graduated from the University of Rochester in 1898. He studied law at Columbia University and was admitted to the bar July 24, 1900.
With Late Sol Wile
For a time he was associated with the late Sol Wile in the firm of Wile & Oviatt, which in time became the present law firm bearing his name.
He served as president of the Rochester Bar Association in 1941, as president of the UR Associated Alumni in 1935, and as head of the Library Board in 1932.
He was also a member of the State and American Bar Associations, American Law Institute, the Archeological Institute, the Masons, Knights of Pythias, Genesee Valley Club, Locust Club, Delta Psi Fraternity and other organizations.
