She was born September 5, 1936 in Galesburg to Willard and M. June Ashton Wenzel. She married James F. Erwin October 9, 1959 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death April 12, 1998.
Surviving is a daughter, Gloria J. (and Brian) Naslund of Wataga, a sister, Pat Carr of Camarillo, California, a granddaughter, Molly Naslund of Wataga and a niece, Susan (and Mark) Robinson of Redondo Beach, California. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Sharon graduated from Galesburg High School in 1954. She did clerical work for Prudential Insurance Company, Outboard Marine Company, Gale Division, Proflo, and Adams Press Metals all in Galesburg. She retired in 1995. She was a member of the former East Main Congregational Church in Galesburg. Sharon enjoyed line dancing and teaching others how to line dance. She was an avid Chicago Cub baseball and Iowa Hawkeye basketball fan. She loved watching her daughter and later, her granddaughter, play in sporting events. She loved animals. She always had a dog in her home and would feed stray animals in the neighborhood.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Hinchliff-Person-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society.
