Dau. of James Andrus Giddings & Eunice Penfield, she m. Nehemiah Beardsley Northrop in 1819 in New York. She lived her adult life in Fulton. She does not appear to have been buried near her husband in the Congressional Cemetery.

Laura is listed in all DAR lineages for Capt. Jonathan C. Giddings. Jonathan C. Giddings (1741-1817) commanded a scouting party and endured great hardship. He was wounded and obtained an honorable discharge. His wife fed soldiers when the troops were encamped near them on the Housatonic River. He was born in Lyme, Conn.; died in Sherman.
