She was born on July 23, 1921 in Everett, MA, a daughter of the late Frederick and Frances Gibson.
As an employee of the Foreign Service of the State Department, she was posted overseas until her marriage, at which time she accompanied her husband in his travels. A Warrenton resident since 1978, she worked as a teacher's aide in the Fauquier Schools and as a clerk at the former Vint Hill Farms military base.
Mrs. Butler was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and an Oblate partner of Virginia.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Butler and a brother, Frederick Gibson.
Survivors include two daughters; Therese Wexler and her husband, Col. Larry Wexler , USA (Ret.) of Suffolk, VA and Jennifer Butler and her husband, Thomas Rumland of South Riding, VA. She also leaves two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Saturday, November 16 at 10:30 AM with Rev. James Gould officiating. Interment will be at Bright View Cemetery.
