Elizabeth Young “Lisa” Jenkins, 64, of Griffin, wife of James Timothy Jenkins died Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at her home.

Born in Atlanta, September 16, 1954, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Lamar Young and Janie Yates Hilgeman. Mrs. Jenkins was formerly employed as a Registered Nurse at Spalding Regional Hospital. She chose to be at home to raise her twelve children, homeschooling them and being their number one cheerleader at all of their sporting events and extracurricular activities. She served as a board member for the Griffin Gators Swim Team. Mrs. Jenkins had a great love for all animals, often taking in strays and giving them a home. Throughout her life, she had a strong faith in God and often said, “He’s never let me down.”

She was a member of the Church of Joy in Williamson, where she was very active and was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and Women’s Bible Study Group of the church.

Surviving in addition to her husband of thirty-five years are children, Jason Jenkins of Nashville, Will Highsmith and wife Rachel of Atlanta, Elizabeth Highsmith of Griffin, David Jenkins of Ashville, NC, Melanie Jenkins of Griffin, Laura Jane Jenkins of Atlanta, Stephanie Jenkins of Peachtree City, Matthew Jenkins of Griffin, Zachary Jenkins and wife Hannah of Williamson and Joshua Jenkins, Luke Jenkins and Cameron Jenkins, all of Griffin; and a brother, Michael Young and wife Susan of Fayetteville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Young “Lisa” Jenkins will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 AM at Church of Joy with Dr. Larry Mattox and Rev. Vaughn Drawdy officiating. Burial will follow in the Williamson First United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 PM at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home.
