FREDA CYRUS
(1914-2001)

Freda C. Cyrus, 87, of Lucasville, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

She was born April 16, 1914, in Roane County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Del Shaver and Flora Alice Nutter Heeter. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Cyrus Sr., March 23, 1987; one son, Glenn O. Cyrus; and on brother, Bill Heeter.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas W. Byrus, Jr. and his wife Betty of Minford and David L. Cyrus, Sr. and his wife Wilma of Chillicothe, Ohio; three daughters, Alice R. Cochenour of Columbus, Ohio, Freda R. Morris and her husband Thomas of Bowie, Md., and Geraldine E. Cyrus of Litchfied, N.H.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Emoline Heeter of Spencer, W.Va.; caregiver and special friend, Ruth Strickland; and special friends, Bod and Fredrica Wagner.

She was a retired Avon saleslady, former licensed Nazarene minister, former President of Valley Local Schools PTA, co-founder of the Lucasville Mission, a graduate of Valley High School and Portsmouth Interstate Business College.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at the Lucasville Mission, with H. David Cyrus officiating. burial will be in Lucasville Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville, and an hour before the funeral Wednesday at the Lucasville Mission.
