LaRue Wilmot, 90, of Blackfoot, died at a ripe old age (as prophesied in her patriarchal blessing) on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Bingham Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

LaRue was born in her grandmother’s home in Riverdale, Idaho on September 3, 1928 to Herbert Jacob Edwards and Leona Barrington Edwards.

She grew up in Riverdale and Star Valley, Wyoming where she went back and forth attending grade school. She graduated from Star Valley High School.

LaRue married William Arthur Wilmot on March 10, 1947 in Milo, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 28, 1950. The couple then moved to their ranch in Wapello, where LaRue has lived the past 55 years. Art preceded her in death on March 30, 2009.

She worked at the State Hospital South for 25 years.

LaRue was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served with the Cub Scouts and other various callings. She had an immense love for her neighbors and served as visiting teacher for over 65 years. She loved history, traveling (especially a trip to Europe she took with her son Gerald) her garden and tending to her raspberries. She was a 50 year member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers where she served in the leadership. She also spent many years with the American Legion Auxiliary, where she was honored as a Life Member. She has been recognized as having a project entered at the Eastern Idaho State Fair for 61 consecutive years.

LaRue is survived by her children, Eva Ann Waldren of Eagle ID, Sherry May Robinson of Smithfield UT, Ardith Jean (Tim) Williams of Arco ID, Owen Lee (Sharon) Wilmot of Albion ID, Lavar (Debbie) Wilmot of Ballston Spa NY, Randy (Julie) WIlmot of Shelley ID, and Gerald (Teresa Sinner) Wilmot of Blackfoot ID; sisters, Velma Edwards of Heber City UT and Evvalee (Ben) Young of Wallsburg UT; 22 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Art Wilmot; her parents; and siblings Elmo, Gaylin and Herbert Edwards.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Wapello LDS Church. The family will meet with friends and relatives Friday, February 15, 2019 from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the service at the church.
