MRS. JACK CLARK PERRY (ORA)
Mrs. Jack Clark Perry (Ora) entered into Heaven on Christmas Day, 1998. She was born on May 2, 1903 in Anson, Texas, the fifth and youngest child of Andrew Spurgeon Barkley and Eddith Ashland Ward Barkley, Jones County settlers.

She graduated magna cum laude from Simmons College (now Hardin-Simmons University) in 1924, and married Jack Clark Perry, M.D. in 1927. He preceded her in death in 1953.

Mrs. Perry was a retired English and Latin teacher in the Abilene public school system and held membership in the A.A.U.W., the D.A.R. and Delta Kappa Gamma. She had been a member and Sunday school teacher in the First Baptist Church since 1939 and was a teacher emeritus of the Esther Bible Club.

Her survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and William C. Garner of Houston; grandchildren, Carey Garner Le Veck and her husband, Joe, Timothy Garner and wife, Susan, Patrick Garner and wife, Kristine; great grandchildren, Tyson and William Le Veck, and Emily, Travis and Adelynn Garner; several other relatives; and numerous friends.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Garner, Patrick Garner, Joseph Le Veck, Obra Quave, Van Boozer and James Sasser Jr.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29 at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the First Baptist Church of Abilene, the scholarship fund of Hardin-Simmons University, or the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.
