VIRGINIA BEACH - Ralph Alfred Midgett, 66, prominent cattle and dairy farmer of Princess Anne County, died Saturday at 10:35 a.m. at his residence, 22nd street and Pacific avenue.

A native of Currituck County, N.C., he had lived at the beach the last 33 years. He was president of the Princess Anne Livestock Market, president of the Coastal Mike Lines and vice president of the Rosemont Dairy Corp.

An ardent lover of horses, he was a charter member of the Tidewater Horse and Pony Assn. He also was a member of the Ruritan Club and the Hereford Breeder Assn.

The husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Meiggs Midgett, he was a son of the late A. B. and Mrs. Alice Parker Midgett.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach.

Surviving, besides his wife, are one daughter, Mrs. Gerry M. Ashburn of Virginia Beach, four sons, Ralph A. Midgett Jr., Al Baum Midgett, James H. Midgett and Robert P. Midgett, all of Virginia Beach; one sister, Mrs. Paul Hampton, of Coinjock, N.C.; four brothers, Raymond P. Midgett, Archibald Midgett and Orville Midgett, all of Coinjock, N.C., and Edward M. Midgett of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The body will be taken from the Ewell and Williamson Funeral Home to the First Presbyterian Church, Virginia Beach, for services Monday at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Henry G. Morgan, pastor. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be sent to the Princess Anne Cancer Fund Society. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park.
