Mrs. Powell was born June 15, 1930 in Chapin, SC and was one of nine children of the late Jesse O’Neal and Lillie Mae Bush Bundrick.
Mrs. Powell was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, John “Jack” Theodore Powell, Sr.; sister, Mae Frick; brothers, Robert, Russel, Daniel, Cecil, and Jimmy Bundrick; and son-in-law, Dr. Wayne Black.
She is survived by her three children, Kathy Powell Black, John Theodore “Ted” Powell, Jr. (Jane), Gwen Powell; and sisters, Rachel Wessinger and Dot Abrams.
She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Heather Widdowson (Heath), Dr. Joshua Black (Brandon), Jennifer Dozier (Vaughan), Stephanie Powell (Thomas), Calhoun Taylor and Maggie Taylor; nine great-grandchildren; friend, Helen Beam; many beloved nieces and nephews; and her dog, Conway.
Mrs. Powell was a graduate of Chapin High School and later worked as a Loan Officer at the SC Federal Credit Union. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, many of whom are known as Meemaw’s Monkeys.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia.
