Jesse Wilbern Lucas, Sr. of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Washington, MO, on December 30, 2015, having reached the age of seventy-three years, two months and eighteen days. Jesse was born in Bliss, MO, on October 12, 1942, son of Leslie Jackson Lucas and Alice Dora Lucas nee DeClue. On December 14, 1963, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Carole Cokley and four children came to bless this union.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Evelyn Lucas of St. Clair, MO; by his son, Jesse Wilbern Lucas, Jr. and wife, Lynette, of San Angelo, TX; by four grandsons, Travis, Matthew and Zachary Lucas of San Angelo and Dillon Lucas of San Antonio, TX; by his son-in-law, Dewey Teague of St. Clair; by two brothers, Jule and Frankie Lucas both of St. Clair; by two sisters, Judy Gettenberg of Farmington, MO, Glenda Box, known to many as Bonnie, and husband, David, of Bourbon, MO; by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Alice Lucas; by three daughters, Stacey, Rachel and Gretchen Lucas; by one grandson, Joshua Lucas; by one brother, Joseph Lucas, known to many as Beanie, and by four sisters, Nettie Pettus, Sue Coleman, Janet Warthen and Mildred Boyster.

Jesse was Christian and most recently was attending Friendship Baptist Church in St. Clair. MO, and in the past had attended Bethel Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Navy, entering October 16, 1961 and receiving his honorable discharge on October 15, 1963. He was currently a member of American Legion Post 347 in St. Clair. Jesse was an extraordinary man with many talents. During his working years, he was employed by Chrysler Corporation in Fenton, MO, retiring after thirty-two years of service to the company. He was also a retiree of the United Auto Workers, Local 136 of Fenton, MO. In addition to working at Chrysler, he enjoyed using his barbering talents to cut all the family members hair. For several years, he owned and operated a lock smith shop out of his home in Union, MO. At the age of five, Jesse wanted to play music, so he taught himself and was now a talented musician, playing guitar, drums, acoustic instruments. He was always in or had a band and his current band was the Indian Creek Band. His band enjoyed playing at the St. Clair and Union Senior Citizens Centers. He was a mason and member of Gray Summit Lodge #173 in Gray Summit, MO. He was also a member of Shrine in Albuquerque, NM and was a member of the Moolah Shrine in St. Louis, MO. He was very civic minded and had served as a volunteer fireman for the Union Fire Protection District and was also a qualified diver and also served the district in this capacity. He also served the community through his membership in the Moose Lodge in Union. Jesse was known as the man who could fix anything and willingly did so for anyone that needed his help. He was a man that never complained, no matter what life dealt him. He was always busy and enjoyed many hobbies and interests. Making jewelry was a favorite pastime and his family will treasure the pieces he has made them. Hunting and fishing were other hobbies he enjoyed, especially when his son went with him. He was truly a family man and nothing was more important than meeting the needs of his family.

A devoted and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Masonic services were held at 3:30 PM on Monday, January 4, 2016,at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, in St. Clair, MO, Funeral services were held at 4:00 P M with the Rev. Ben Kingston officiating. Private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to either the St. Clair or the Union Senior Citizens Center.
