Doyle Stephenson Brown, age 77, of Rutherfordton, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Born November 7, 1941, in Rutherford County, NC; son of the late Joe Elder Brown (1910–1955) and Mary Lily Arrowood Brown (1908–1998); husband of Janice Pruett Brown for fifty-six years.
Worked for Gilkey Lumber for several years and Broyhill Industries for almost forty years before retirement.
A longtime and faithful member of Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church where he served as "head deacon" for over twenty years and was known as everyone's "PawPaw" at the church.
A lover of the outdoors, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and raising various farm animals; was dedicated to his family, his church, and his God.
Also preceded in death by a brother, George Benjamin "G.B." Brown; and sister, Violet Louise Brown Johnson (1939-1990); two grandchildren, Holly and Angelica; and a great-grandchild.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Diane Callahan and Debbie Gettys (Gerald); son, Steve Brown (Stacey); an "adopted daughter" Vickie Lynn Moore; brothers, Joseph Brown (Helen), Arnold Brown (Audrey), and Rev. Leon Brown (Joyce); sisters, Lena Mae B. Hudgins, Edith B. Alley, and Hattie B. Edwards (Charles); sister-in-law, Dorothy Brown; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service held at 3:30 pm, Sunday, February 10, 2019, at Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church with Pastor Leon Brown, Rev. Chad Sisk, and Rev. Buddy Campbell officiating; interment in the church cemetery.
