Mrs. Hoover was born on March 24, 1937 in Linville near Singers Glen and was a daughter of the late Charles Baxter and Ava Shoemaker Hartman. She was a 1955 graduate of Broadway High School and a member of the Mt. Carmel United Brethren in Christ Church of Fulks Run. Satchel was an avid UVA Football and Basketball fan and enjoyed tending to her flowers and watching the birds. She worked for Mac's Superette in Fulks Run for more than 25 years. Janice was a loving a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many who will greatly miss her.
She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Branner of Broadway with whom she had been living for the past 6 months, a son DL Hoover of Rockingham. She is also survived by her granddaughter Amber (Jonathon) Stover of Quicksburg, a grandson Daniel Hoover of Rockingham, great-grand-daughters Maddilynn and Emilie Stover. She is also survived by a brother Glen E Hartman, "Jack" of Harrisonburg, sisters Doris Emswiler of Timberville and Nancy Dove of Harrisonburg. She is also survived by special friends Dwayne Miller, Michelle Sponaugle, Brian Miller, Cody Shifflett, Brie Mccafferty and Wyatt Shifflett and Jenny Fulk and special nephew Pastor Roger Dove and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Tom Hartman, brothers in law Warren Emswiler, Lawrence Dove and sister in law Janet Hartman.
