Ralph Oswald Parris, Jr., 80, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, February 1, 2019 at his home.

Born September 28, 1938 in Spartanburg, SC, son of the late Ralph O. Parris, Sr. and Vassar Louise Parris.

Graduated from Roebuck High School and Spartanburg Methodist College; served two years in the U.S. Army.

Upon moving to California, he was employed with 3M for more than 30 years, serving as a department manager. He returned to the Spartanburg area after retirement and resided in White Stone.

Ralph was a humble, kind, and caring man toward all that he knew. He was a steadfast friend and loved his friends and family deeply. All who were privileged to know Ralph loved to hear his stories and jokes almost as much as he loved to tell them. His great joy was in making people laugh and he did it well. The light he brought to our lives will be deeply missed.

Survived by his wife, Virginia Parris; his son, Perry D. Parris (Zoe); three stepsons, Cory Dearing, Daniel Dearing, Paul Pacheco; a stepdaughter, Cristina Pacheco; three grandsons; two sisters, Angela P. Hilton and Delores P. Bowyer (Chris); many nieces and nephews, cousins, and a large extended family, along with his beloved canine companion, Cricket.

Memorial service was held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

Visitation followed the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to The Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
