Tobias McGill was married twice:
1. Rhoda Bozell, Feb. 5, 1829, Bartholomew Co., Indiana
2. Mary Fry, Jan. 9, 1834, Bartholomew Co., Indiana

Tobias and Rhoda had an infant daughter, Stella or Stilley; a daughter Mary Ann, and a son, Newton McGill. This Mary Ann appears to be the one who married George Burbank, June 8, 1848, Bartholomew Co., and died shortly afterward, about Jan. 1849. She has no local marked grave.

A son, Newton McGill, was born 1833-1834, and it isn't entirely clear if he was the son of Rhoda Bozell or Mary Fry. He married in 1856, and died sometime after 1860. He is noted as buried at Old Union, but no dates are available.

Tobias McGill and Mary Fry are undoubtedly the parents of Barbara Jane, Tobias, Rebecca Susan, and Melissa Clementine McGill. No record is found for the death of Mary (Fry) McGill, but by 1850, all five of the minor children of Tobias McGill were living with other families in Bartholomew Co. Barbara and Melissa were living with Susanah Fry, likely a relative of their mother.

Tunis Quick is appointed administrator May 16, 1846, of the estate of Tobias McGill, dec., with Henry B. Roland and William F. Pidgeon as his securities. Henry D. Andrews and Joshua E. Crosby were appraisers of the personal property. The widow, Mary, is mentioned. Tunis Quick asks that his letters of adm. be revoked Aug. 14, 1847, and Thomas F. Thompson replaces him. Expenses to Franklin Co., Ind., and purchase money for land bought of William Marlin are listed. The heirs of Tobias are listed as: Mary, the widow, Barbary Jane, Tobias, Rebecca Susan, Melissa Clementine, Mary Ann and Newton McGill. Entry later states that Mary [George Burbank] McGill departed this life during the last winter. Final settlement made May 15, 1849.
