Mrs. Idelle Pennington Tucker, 95, of Charlotte, NC, died June 18, 2010 at Asbury Care Center. She was born July 28, 1914 in Bartow, Georgia, one of three children to the late John Will Pennington and Inez Langford Pennington. Mrs. Tucker retired from the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System as a Home Economics Teacher after 35 years of dedicated service. She was a longtime member of St. John's Baptist Church, Charlotte Pilot Club, Charlotte Tour Club and served as a volunteer of Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Tucker will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2010 from the Chapel of St. John's Baptist Church. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Tucker is survived by her son, William G. Tucker, Jr. of Charlotte, NC and granddaughter, Laura Tucker Craver and her husband, Phillip of Mooresville, NC and one sister, Christine Pennington of Augusta, GA. Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Tucker, Sr, and a sister Doris Kendrick. Memorials may be made to St. John's Baptist Church , 300 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28204, or Aldersgate Retirement Community, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
