Wilma Lewis On May 28, 2007, a day of joy and sorrow, Wilma Lewis went to heaven to be with Jesus. Her sweet smile and firm, loving advice will not be seen or heard again. But she leaves in our hearts the memory of joyful times and thanksgiving. We are so fortunate to have known and loved her. She was born Wilma Manning on Jan. 3, 1930 in Oakland, Miss. She married Homer Lewis on Oct. 28, 1946 and then again on Sept. 29, 1974. The couple raised four children, Lillian, Linda Lila and Jay. Growing up with Wilma was interesting. She was a born matriarch. She was the glue that held family together through thick and thin. From the day she accepted Jesus as her savior, her whole focus has been to tell others about Jesus. Wilma leaves behind her loving husband Homer, children Lillian Heminger and Bob, Linda Tewalt and Gary, Lila Farley and Alfred, and Jay Lewis. Also are seven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, three sisters, two brothers, 10 nephews and six nieces. All these folks know that they have a person in heaven now to put in a good word for them. Funeral services are Thursday, May 31 at 1 p.m. at Broadway Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Dry Creek Cemetery.

Mama, we love you so.
