Peter Kerlin is believed to be son of Pieter Keurlis (Kearlis), one of the 13 original settlers of Germantown, PA. A Quaker Meeting record lists Pieter Kearlis as a the last child born, along with his other children, Agnes (b. 1680), Martha (b. 1682), Johannes (b.1686), Henery (b. 1689) and Matthias (b. 1692). Records have shown the spelling as Keurlis or Kearlis and was likely changed to Kerlin (including in the book titled "William Penn and the Dutch Quakers" where Martha's last name was also spelled Kerlin).
