Carl Mumma, age 89, died Monday, July 3, 2005 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas.

Carl was born and grew up in Lane County, KS. He was the son of Clarence and Melissa Stewart Mumma. He married Quenna Wolfe on May 6, 1939.

A long time resident of Lane County, he was a farmer, rancher in Garnet, KS. and Eastern Co. In 1958, Carl and his family settled in Lane Co. where they were active in the United Methodist Church. Carl was a man of many trades, but his true talent and love of farming allowed plenty of opportunity for his farvorite pastime-fixing, anything with moving parts.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Jerry, one grandson, Simon Wendler, 2 brothers, Glenn and Elmer Mumma, 3 sisters, Esther Burroughs, Janet Knauf and Marie Evans.

He is survuved by wife Queena of the home, 2 daughters, Judith Ann Gugler and partner, Carroll Long, Manhattan and Carla Mumma, Topeka; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Bill Mumma, Independance and Clarence Mumma, Kansas City, MO,; 1 sister Shirley Merritt, Pleasanton and sister-in-law Edna Mumma, Garden City.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the United Methodist Church in Sighton, with Rev. David Randall officiating. Special music, "Hymn of Promise," "Wings of a Dove," and "On Eagles Wings," were sung by Joy Peck with Amy Speer as orginist.

Casket Bearers were Dan Evans, Kent Lage, Marc Gugler, Kali Sallman, Randol Walker, and Zak Brown.

Burial was in the Dighton Memorical Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the Dighton Methodist Church in care of Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton, Dighton.
