Born September 4, 1925 in Manitowoc, Doris was a daughter of the late Bernhard and Esther Prucha Daugs. She attended Manitowoc area schools. On June 20, 1945, she was united in marriage to Leonard Lesperance. They were married for nine years before Leonard preceded her in death on March 8, 1954. She then married Reuben "Bud" Hawkins on August 16, 1954. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1980 following 26 years of marriage. On February 14, 1997, she married Earl W. Ellis who died on August 6, 2007.
Doris worked at Wisconsin Plastics for many years before her retirement. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Leah Circle. She was also a member of the Sheboygan Senior Center. She enjoyed line dancing, crocheting, and was an avid reader. She loved cooking and baking and will be remembered for her German potato salad. One of her highlights of the week was her Tuesday morning breakfast club but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Gerald) Binversie, Bonnie (Ronald) Miller, Barbara (Steven) Bubb, Kenneth Hawkins, and Douglas (Beth) Hawkins, all of Sheboygan; eleven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; her sister, Kathleen Welch, Manitowoc; her sister-in-law, Betty Daugs, Manitowoc; her special cousin, Maureen Wolff, FL; her four step children, Eugene (Sandy) Lesperance, Manitowoc, Sandy Silvis, Green Bay, Larry (Debbie) Ellis, Brown Deer, WI, and Tim (Renee) Ellis; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Richard and Harold, her sister, Lois Altman, and two step children, Gary Lesperance and Richard Hawkins.
Funeral services will take place at 12:00 on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2104 Geele Avenue, Sheboygan. The Rev. Kristin Berglund will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place in the Chapel of Eternal Light.
