Superior Court Judge Rafael Galceran Dies
Former Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Rafael Galceran Jr. died of cancer Tuesday. Galceran, 72, lived in Rosemead for 68 years. He retired in 1981 after 26 years on the bench. He was appointed to the Rio Hondo Municipal Court in 1955 and was elevated to the Superior Court in 1968, where he became an expert in persona injury, business and air crash litigation. Since retirement he served as a court arbitrator and referee.
Galceran, a graduate of UCLA and USC Law School, served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was active in the Air Corp Reserves, the Kiwanis Club, the American Red Cross and Republican politics. He is survived by his wife, Pat, three children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services are 3:45 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.
