Mary Ida Thompson, 80, Tompkinsville, died Jan. 2, 2005 at the Monroe County Medical Center.

She was a member of the Sulphur Ridge Church of Christ.

Born in Monroe County on May 8, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Dibbie (Strode) Bartley and the wife of Frank M. Thompson, who died Sept. 22, 1987. They were married July 4, 1945.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bobby F. Thompson, Mitchell and Reta Thompson and Roy M. and Susan Thompson, all of Tompkinsville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Winston Hale, Tompkinsville, and Lorraine and Jimmy Myatt, Glasgow; a brother, Ben Bartley, Tompkinsville; two sisters, Edith Cleary, Tompkinsville, and Nell Hammer, Summer Shade; 11 grandchildren, Dwayne Hale; Leslie Page; Shawn, Bronson, Brad, Wesley and Nathan Thompson; Michelle Combs; Chris and Jonathan Myatt; and Lorrie Straub; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, Billy, Leslie and Lynn Bartley and a sister, Dollie McMillin, all preceded him in death.

Burial was at the Old Mt. Hermon Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Dwayne Hale, Jonathan Myatt, Chris Myatt, and Shawn, Bronson, Nathan, Brad and Wesley Thompson.
