Mr. Edgar "Dean" Sumner, 52, of Ludowici, GA, formerly of Brantley County, died early Friday morning (May 25, 2007) from injuries he received after being struck by an automobile, in Baytown, Texas where he was working .

Born in Brunswick, GA he was the son of the late Jessie Floyd and Alice Thelma Baldree Sumner.

He served in the U.S. Army, and was a welder in the construction business, also was of the Baptist Faith.

Dean, as know by his family and friends, enjoyed to camp out and enjoy the outdoors, along with hunting and fishing he also loved playing chess.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James Sumner, also 2-sisters, Marie S. Crosby and Josie S. Beaver.

He is survived by his loving Fiancée Margaret Parker, of Ludowici, her 2-sons, David & Daniel Parker, and her daughter, Jackqueline Thompson , 2-grandchildren, Ivy and Kollin Thompson, all of Ludowici, 8-Brothers and Sisters, Martha (Bob) Engle, of Conyers, GA, Diane LaMontane, of Georgetown, TX, Charles Franklin (Jolene) Sumner, of San Hose, CA, Ray Sumner, and Fay Bratcher, both of Alma, GA, Carlis Sumner, of Nahunta, GA, Bill (Debra) Sumner, of Atkinson, GA, and Jean Vann of Brunswick, GA, also several Nieces, Nephews and other relatives and a host of Friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening starting at 6PM at the Chambless-Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta, GA.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11AM from the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Sellers officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Byrd, Gary Goss, Gerald Roberson, Mike Sumner, Jamie Thompson and Dale Stafford. Honorary will be Bufford Amos, Charlie Theus, James McGuire, Wilton Crosby and Jimmy Crosby.

Burial will follow in the family plot in the Hortense Cemetery.
