Emily Kay Sherrod Keith, 67, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 while surrounded by her family under Hospice care. She was born on October 1, 1939 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Garland O'Dell and Mary Kathryn Sherrod.

Kay lived her life serving others, and will be remembered most for her commitment, passion, and the great, unconditional love she held for her family, friends, and community. She was a special friend and MeMa or MeMe to many. She loved God and was a proud member of the First Baptist Church and the Dorcus Sunday School class, serving on both the "Meals on Wheels" and Social committee.

Kay was a 1957 graduate from the Wayne County High School where she was a cheerleader and voted "Homecoming Queen". She was a past member of the Jesup Jaycettes and was voted "Woman of the Year" in Jesup, GA in 1967. She was retired from the Board of Education as cafeteria manager where she was employed for 20 years at the former Wayne County Junior High and the present Martha Puckett Elementary School.

She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving husband of 49 years, Jerry Willis Keith of Jesup, Georgia; five devoted sons, Dell (Janet) Keith of Richmond Hill, GA, David Earl (Carol) Keith of Jesup, GA, Tim (Jennifer) Keith of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kevin (Tina) Keith of Jesup, GA, Kenny (Kelly) Keith of San Francisco, CA; one dear daughter, Patti Kay (Terry) Phillips of Jacksonville, Florida; ten precious grandchildren, Katie, Kerrie, Hanna, Sidney, Zachary, Harrison, Emily, Jessica Mallard, Brooke, and Kathryn; two sweet sisters, Pat (Nubin) Keith and Jo-An Boatright both of Jesup, GA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances be made to the Hospice of South Georgia Building Fund, 117 Drennon Dr. Jesup, GA 31545, , or The American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 464, Jesup, GA, 31598.

The family will greet friends from 6pm to 8 pm Wednesday, May 30, 2007, from the Rinehart & Sons Funeral Home at 860 South Highway 301, Jesup, GA 31546, (912)427-3718, Fax (912)427-3710. Her "home-going" celebration will be held at the First Baptist Church, Thursday, May 31, 2007, with Dr. Felix Haynes officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
