Richard Bennetts, who has lived in Grass Valley for about 59 years, died at 6:25 o’clock this morning at his home at 409 Henderson street.
Bennetts, who had suffered from a heart condition for some time, was born at Virginia City, Nevada, October 21, 1878.
His family moved to Grass Valley when he was 13 years of age and this city has remained his permanent home since. Richards by vocation was a dry goods store manager and had worked in many California cities.
He is survived by a wife, Susan Bennetts, Grass Valley and a sister, Mrs. Joseph Carroll of San Francisco.
Funeral services will be held at the Myers Grass Valley Mortuary chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday July 2 with Rev. Donald Getty of the First Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be made in the Bennetts family plot, in the east of Grass Valley cemetery.
