Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday from Spry Funeral Home for Mrs. Estelle (Gordon) Ball, wife of Dewey Ball, who died at 11:30 p.m., last Thursday at her home in Athens, after a long illness. Mr. A. Creel conducted the last rites and burial was in the Athens City Cemetery.


Mrs. Ball, 39, had been a teacher in the Limestone County School System for several years and was a native of Limestone County. She had been in failing health for some years prior to her passing.


She was the daughter of William Wallace Gordon and Louanna (Hardiman) Gordon.


Survivors include her husband, Dewey Ottis Ball; her father; four sisters, Mrs. Irene Tibbets of New York City, Mrs. Essie McCollough and Mrs. Lillie Fisher, both of Canton, Ohio, Mrs. Lucile Price of Guntersville; two brothers, Robert Gordon, Athens, and Waters Gordon of Mobile.


Estelle Gordon and Dewey Ball were married Oct. 4, 1932 in Limestone Co, AL. They did not have any children.
