Glenn Curtis Meadows (83) of Houston passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Houston Hospice.

Born on August 9, 1935 in Longview, Texas, he was the son Benita Inez (Dudley) and Virginia Dare Meadows. He was educated in the Longview public school system and attended Texas A&M University where he majored in Agriculture. Glenn married Martha Judd from Kilgore, Texas on June 1, 1957. Together they had two daughters, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Besides enjoying time with family, he was an avid Square and Round Dancer. He and Martha danced for 35 years, traveling with The Spirits to multiple destinations in the U.S. and abroad. Through the years, Glenn enjoyed sports and playing card and domino games, especially “42”.

In July 1958, he joined the Texas Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of Colonel in 1987 after 30 years of service. He also served on the Board of Directors for the National Guard Association of Texas for 8 years and held the office of President of NGAT in 1986.

Glenn’s civilian service included 12 years at R.G. LeTourneau in Longview, Texas, 30 years at Kranco in Houston, Texas, and 15 years at BOAZ Export Crating Company in Houston, Texas. He also served on the Board of Directors of the National Defense Transportation Agency in Houston for 15 years and was President in 1987.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Benita Meadows, brothers Dudley and Wayne, and sisters Ginny Fowzer, Delores Lomax, and Lucretia Gunn.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Martha; daughter, Jennifer Pakeltis and husband, Michael; daughter, Judlyn Blume and husband, Jeff; five grandchildren, Lauren Girardi and husband, Ricky; Adam Pakeltis and wife Melody; Haleigh Blume, Olivia Blume, and Keaton Blume; and four great grandchildren, Katie Pakeltis, Natalie Pakeltis, Ryder Girardi, and Luke Pakeltis.

In lieu of flowers, Glenn asked donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Children’s Hospital, and Living Water International.
