He was born October 3, 1922 in Seminole, Oklahoma to the late Ike Newton Oliver and Maggie (Vestie) Oliver.
He was a cousin of the U.S. Astronaut Gordon Cooper of the Mercury Mission He was an avid chili and menudo cook.
His menudo recipe was published in the January 1980 issue of Playboy magazine and he placed first in the San Marcos Chilipiad and won first place with his chili at Terlinqua.
He served 32 years in the USAF and served during WWII in the India-Burma campaign. His last assignment was at Security Service at Kelly AFB. He was a member of the Harlandale Masonic Lodge #1313 A.F. & A.M. He belonged to the Hanger Doors at Randolph AFB.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille.
