Mr. Lawrence Ellis Currie Sr., at the age of 88, of Old Wilkesboro Road Ext. , Taylorsville, NC; died Friday January 1, 2010 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born June 23, 1921 in Anson County to the late Howard R. Currie Sr. and Sarah Bettie (Crider) Currie.
He worked for National Linen Service as a supervisor for a number of years and was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S.Army. He was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Melba Currie of the home, three sons Larry E. Currie Jr. of North Myrtle Beach, SC; and Gregory P. Currie and Ray K. Currie both of Charlotte, NC. Five Grandchildren and four Great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 :00 P.M. Sunday, January, 3, 2010 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Eddie Yount and Pastor Homer Murdock officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
