Brenda Boyles Speagle, age 68, passed away on January 7, 2019 surrounded by family after a long fight with COPD and Lewy Body Disease. She was born August 2, 1950 in Vale, North Carolina to Dan an Nell Boyles. She married Gary Speagle in December 1968 and they just recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Brenda was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved being “Grammy” to her three granddaughters. She had a heart of gold and showed kindness and love to everyone she met. She loved to take care of others, cook, fish, and spend time with her family. She was hard working and her strength was unmatched. Many say she was the strongest and most stubborn person they had ever known.

Brenda worked at Ellis Hosiery Mill for many years and served as the store manager at Rite Aid/Kerr Drug. She made friends everywhere she went and loved meeting and talking to customers at her stores.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Dan Boyles and Nell Boyles. She is survived by her husband, Gary Speagle, daughter Misty Foster & husband Matthew Foster, and her grandchildren Peyton, Paige, and Avery Foster. She is also survived by her brother, Gerald Boyles.

Memorial contributions may be made to Carolina Caring (Hospice) , 3975 Robinson Road, Newton NC. The family would like to give special thanks to all the hospice nurses and staff who provided exceptional care and helped the family take care of Brenda at home over the past few weeks. They are truly some special individuals.

Visitation will be held at Sardis Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 11th from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. The family would like to thank Pastor Adrienne Martin for her love and support during this difficult time.
