Lloyd Hawkins, SR, age 80, was born on February 28, 1938 in Granville, Georgia. He was born the youngest sibling of the late Marvin Hawkins and Viola Emma Lou (McCambry) Hawkins.

In his hometown of Granville, where he grew up, Lloyd is only known as "Dan". He was nicknamed after his great-grandfather Daniel Williams (founder of the current Greater Jehovah Baptist Church). Dan accepted Christ as his personal saviour and was baptized at an early age. At Greater Jehovah Baptist Church, Dan was active in youth functions and was part of a gospel singing group.

Lloyd attended Granville Training High School. In his senior year, he attended Central High School in Newnan, GA., where he graduated in 1956. After graduation, he matriculated at Savanah State College, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education in 1960.

At Savanah State College, he met Geraldine Yvonne Lindsey during her freshman year. Lloyd married Geraldine on August 12, 1961, in Bainbridge, GA., and remained a devoted father and husband until her untimely death in 1976. From this union were born two sons: Lloyd Jr., and Kenneth. Lloyd Sr. later married Vernelle Wynder Antrum on April 16, 1981 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. They were married for 17 years.

In 1960, Lloyd began his teaching career in Dublin, GA. Feeling the need to serve his country and community he joined the US Army Reserve, where he served six years in A Company 841 combat engineers. In the summer of 1962 Lloyd moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL, where he taught Industrial Arts in various middle schools within the Broward County School System. He retired in 1994 after 34 years of teaching.

In addition to teaching, Lloyd wan and entrepreneur in the t-shirt business, with close friend, Mr. Carroll Bannister, printing custom silk screen designs for various sporting entities, fraternities, sororities, clubs and organizations. He was one of the original founders of the Broward Country Kampers Klub Unlimited. He enjoyed traveling with his special friend, Dr. Louise "LY" Streete, in his recreational vehicle and meeting with close friends.

On December 28, 2018 Lloyd transitioned from this life. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shellon Hawkins Bell, and brother Emmerson Lee Johnson. He leaves the cherish his precious memories and celebrate his legacy: two sons Lloyd Hawkins Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Kenneth Jerome Hawkins of Fort Lauderdale, FL; two granddaughters, Geraldine Lorgena Hawkins of Pembroke Pines, FL an Taelor Jade Hawkins of Delray Beach, FL; one great-grandson, D'Drick Anton Hall of Pembroke Pines, FL; special friend, Dr. Louise "LY" Streete of Newberry, FL; god-daughter, LaSonji Lester Marshall of Lithonia, GA. and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
