Thelma was married to the late Floyd Evans, Sr. and to this union two children were born: Floyd Evans, Jr. and Peggy Evans LeRoy. Later in life she met Melvin Mimnick to which a daughter, Debbie Mimnick Albert was born.
Thelma received salvation at an early age in Emerson, Arkansas. After moving to Houston, she joined Lyons Unity Baptist Church under the leadership of the late O. C. Johnson until her heath began to diminish. She occasionally visited Macedonia Worship Center under the leadership of Pastor Walter and Cassandra Pope.
Thelma departed to glory on December 30, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Srtie Bell Jones; one granddaughter, Alexandria LeRoy; six brothers, Anderson, twins- Evan and Aaron, Edward, James Charles and Arell Jones; one sister, Mildred Collins.
She leaves beautiful memories with her son, Floyd “Nickname” Evans, Jr. of Beaumont, Texas; two daughters, Peggy LeRoy and Debbie Mimnick – Albert of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Vonetta Evans of Houston, Texas and Angela Evans Lamb of Seattle, Washington; one great grandson, Cameron Jacquot of Peoria, Arizona and a very special friend, Melvin Mumnick of Houston, Texas; special friends, Willie Bell Kelly and Lou Kelly. In addition, she leaves three sisters, Mae (Jack) Bloomfield, Eula Bea Berry of Houston, Texas and Ida Faye Franklin of Magnolia Arkansas; four brothers, Jerry (Flora) Jones, Varnell (Gwendolyn) Jones of Houston, Texas, Alvin Jones and Clarence (Margie) Jones of Magnolia, Arkansas; aunt, Vera (Nathaniel) Biddle of Texarkana, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
