Jennifer “Jenny” Lynn Simon, 65, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, December 23rd, 2018. She was born on August 15th, 1953 to Josie Lee and Jesse Jones. She spent most of her childhood in Galveston, Texas and later moved to Houston as a teenager.

Jenny was a banker for most of her younger years until she had the best job of being a mother. Her home was her castle and she was the domestic goddess that ran the show without batting an eye. She was the original Momager and no one could do it like her. She handled everything in stride and made it look effortless.

Jenny was a devoted and loving wife to Karl Simon for 42 years. Her children, Justin and Karla, and eventually grandchild, Kenner, were her biggest accomplishments in life. The amount of love and devotion to her children is immeasurable. She was a second mother to most of the kids on Libbey Lane. So much so, that she was recently dubbed as the “Libbey Legend” by her second son, James Poole. Her home was yours and she always made you feel welcomed and loved. She was everyone’s Mom. I’m sure that her incredible cooking didn’t hurt either! She could whip up any Southern classic at a moment’s notice and you could smell whatever she was cooking down the street.

Jenny was the kind of friend that you wanted by your side. It didn’t matter if you are in the wrong or right. If she loved you and you have a problem with someone, they’d better watch out! She was the person that would say what everyone was thinking, but didn’t have the courage to say out loud. She was fearless that way. Her strength and conviction is what we loved and respected about her. There was no one like her.

Jenny is preceded in death by her mother, Josie Jones, father, Jesse Jones, and son, Justin Simon. She leaves behind her husband, Karl Simon, daughter Karla Simon, grandson Kenner Simon, and brother, Steve Jones, plus a host of loving, extended family members and friends.

A visitation is planned for Friday, January 4th, 2019 from 6 PM until 8 PM at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at 11 AM, with a reception to follow at 12:30 PM.

Pallbearers for the service are James Poole, Holly Rhodes Navarro, Derek Ludeke, Matt Lawrence, Casey Jackson, and Chris Jackson.
