James "Jim" Kermit Babcock, 91, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, rejoined the love of his life in heaven on December 27, 2018.
Jim was born November 13, 1927 to Kermit Palmer and Dorothy Louise Babcock in Rochester, New York. He married his high school sweetheart, Frances Flack, in 1950. Jim attended Trinity University and served in the Army Air Corp during the Korean War.
Following in his father's footsteps, Jim returned to Rochester where he started work at Union Central Life Insurance. Soon after, he and Fran started their family. Company-related moves took the family to Cincinnati, OH and Boston, MA. Jim accepted a position as VP of Marketing with State Life in Indianapolis, IN in 1973, and the family adjusted to life in the Midwest. In 1979, Jim accepted a position with Life of Montana, and he, Fran, and the family made the move to Bozeman.
Jim was active in the Bozeman community, serving various leadership roles at First Presbyterian Church and with the Bozeman Opera. He also served the Presbyterian church at the national level and on the Board of Rocky Mountain College in Billings, MT. Jim's boyhood love of the Soap Box Derby followed him at every stop, including Bozeman. The move to Bozeman also rekindled Jim's involvement with the DeMolay and the Bozeman Masonic Lodge where he ascended to leadership in the '90's.
Jim is survived by his five children, thirteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren - all of whom will miss his storytelling, extensive trivia knowledge and "Jim-isms."

A memorial, celebrating Jim's 91 years will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 4th at First Presbyterian Church of Bozeman, Montana.
