Yvonne C. Arnold, age 84, of York, formerly of Hellam, died peacefully, Saturday, December 29, 2018.
Born in York on January 8, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Goldie (Altland) Sowers.
Yvonne was the loving wife of the late Henry L. Arnold, to whom she was married for 61 years.
Yvonne was a 1951 graduate of Hellam High School. She was a loving homemaker and also worked for a short time for the Danskin Sewing Factory.
She was a lifelong member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hellam, where she enjoyed singing in the choir with her husband Henry and was a member of the Friendship Circle.
She was an avid reader and an excellent cook. After her husband's death in 2012, she moved from Hellam to Autumn House East in York and acted as an ambassador for incoming residents.
Yvonne is survived by her children Steven D. Arnold, and his wife Kathy of Hellam Twp., Cynthia D. Stadel, and her partner Daniel Gall of Moline, IL, Samuel J. Arnold, and his partner Maria Davis of Brogue, her daughter-in-law Cathy Arnold of York, her sister Joyce Beck, and her 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey L. Arnold, and her siblings Paul Sowers, Jr., Joanne Yingling, Eweltra Sowers, Spalding Sowers, Rae Abreght, and June Hoke.
A memorial social for Yvonne will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 200 East Market Street, Hallam.
The social will be held around 10:00 am in the church's lower level Gathering Place following the 9:00 am Sunday Worship Service.
