Dorothy Marie Sestak Corbin, 79, of Great Falls, MT, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Peace Hospice Residential Facility.

A memorial service will be held for her family and friends in Montana at Wiegand Chapel on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 2:30pm, followed by a small gathering at the Hohorst’s home. Arrangements are still being made for the Rite of Committal in Charleston, SC at Mepkin Abbey, with intentions of a memorial service for South Carolina relatives and friends some time next Spring.

Born February 6, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA, Dorothy was the youngest daughter of Helen Chizmar and Julius Stephen Sestak. She graduated from Montefiore School of Nursing, and soon after marrying Daniel N. Corbin, they welcomed their beloved son, Thomas L. Corbin.

Dorothy was a genuinely wonderful nurse throughout her 53-year career at various hospitals within Pittsburgh, Ohio and South Carolina. Her husband’s work moved them to Charleston, SC and over the course of 40 years the South transformed her into a warm-weather-loving, non-local-Charlestonian. Although she and Daniel divorced, Dorothy continued touching lives through nursing, while whole-heartedly embracing the arrivals of her granddaughter, Lauren, and grandson, Stephen. With them she shared her love of reading, tea, shopping and enjoying quality time with her loved ones. This past July, Dorothy and her highly-adored cat, Sadie, moved to live with Lauren and her husband, a member of the United States Air Force currently stationed in central Montana. Her time in the west was short, but she was well taken care-of and happy there, just as she cared for so many throughout her lifetime.

Dorothy Corbin is survived by her grandchildren, Lauren C. Hohorst and her husband Jacob T. Hohorst of Great Falls, MT, and Stephen C. Corbin of Goose Creek, SC; cherished cousins, Sylvia Bucksar of San Francisco, CA, and Sandy Birch and her family of Santa Rosa, CA; beloved niece, Susan Harman and her family of Imperial, PA; dear nephew, James Wasik and his family of Atlanta, GA; and countless friends and prior coworkers.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her son and her older sister, Geraldine Wasik. To know Dorothy’s strength and kindness was a priceless gift she gave to many. She will be deeply missed by all.

Memorials may be made to Priests of the Sacred Heart by mailing FATHER DOMINIC, SCJ, SACRED HEART MONASTERY, PO BOX 904, HALES CORNERS, WI 53130 or by visiting poshusa.org.
