Death Claims Another Old Settler

We lealrn through friends that Mrs. Susan Hite, who is well-known by the people
of this community, died a few days ago at her home at Buffalo, Missouri.

Mrs. Susan Hite was among the oldest inhabitants of Cedar Township.. She
and her husband taking a claim 1/2 mile east of Altoon on Big Cedar Creek
over thirty years ago. Her husband died about twenty-nine years ago and
was the first person buried in the Altoona Cemetery. Mrs. Hite's brother gave
an acre for a cemetery in the corner of his claim at the time of Mr. Hite's
death. Mrs. Hite reared her large family of boys to manhood and some
years ago rented her farm, which she still owned at the time of her death.
She removed to Buffalo, Missouri. She was loved and respected by all
who knew her.
