Rees A. Johnson, 89, of Cheyenne passed away of natural causes Dec. 30 at home.

Rees was born July 5, 1929, in Archer, Idaho, to Carl and Geraldine Johnson. He married Norma Freeman on July 5, 1953, in Elko, Nev. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Latter-day Saint temple. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Monterrey Heights Ward.

Rees was active in the Boy Scouts of America for more than 50 years. Rees served in the U.S. Navy; he served his hitch on a destroyer, the USS Brownson, in the Mediterranean. He retired from Little America Hotel and Resort as the maintenance manager.

Rees is survived by his wife, Norma Johnson of Cheyenne; children, Jef (Vickie) Johnson of Draper, Utah, Rex (Marita) Johnson of Puyallup, Wash., Roy Johnson of Fort Collins, Colo., Kirk (Stacey) Johnson of Spanish Fork, Utah, and Norma "Nibs" (Mike) Butterfield of Cheyenne; 16 grand-children; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
