(VII) Carter Whitcomb, son of Nathan Whitcomb (6)was born at Swanzey, New Hampshire February 9, 1794; married December 26, 1815, Lucy Baker, daughter of Jonidab Baker of Marlboro, New Hampshire, she was born February 4, 1794 and died October 3, 1890, age ninety six years. He died May 1, 1879. He was a mercant and manufacturer of woolen goods from 1815 to 1837 in Saxon's River Village, Vermont in partnership with Clement Godfrey. He took an active interest in military and town affairs and was a colonel of a vermont regiment. In 1837 he returned to Swanzey and spent the rest of his life there, on his farm. Except the youngest, his children were born in Saxon's River.
