Robert “Bob” Franklin Clemmons, 95, passed away Monday, December 27, 2018 in his home in Wilmington, NC. He was born to Franklin Thomas Clemmons and Aressa (Reisy) Lewis February 17, 1923 in Bullock Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Robert married Constance Louise Bedgood from Halifax County on February 4, 1947. They were together 64 years before Louise preceded him in death in January 2011. His family lived in Wilmington, NC before moving to Brunswick County when he was twelve.

Mr. Clemmons served in the US Army from December 2, 1939 – May 30, 1946 as an infantryman and a sharp shooter, serving in the Southern France Campaign and the Rhineland Campaign, but he mainly focus on his time in Panama. He received several ribbons and awards, indicating the scope of his military service.

After his time in the military, Mr. Clemmons graduated from Western Pennsylvania Horological Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and became a watch maker and jeweler by trade. He was one of the few individuals certified by Rolex to work on their watches. He continued to work with watches after retirement and was known to give them as gifts to loved ones.

Mr. Clemmons and family moved to the Masonboro Sound area in 1962 and became actively involved in Masonboro Baptist Church in October 1963, where Mr. Clemmons and his wife Louise helped raise and mentor dozens of children in the community and across the state.

Mr. Clemmons is survived by his one son Thom Clemmons and two daughters, H. Juanita Clemmons and Christine Clemmons, as well as his grandchildren, Jason, Michael, Ryan, Bobby, Jordan, Rhia and MacKenzie; his great grandchild River, and nephew John Jarvis. Mr. Clemmons’ extended family is infinite. Their family and extended family were their joy.

Robert Franklin Clemmons will be missed by all the lives that he touched. His kindness and strength will not be forgotten.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 31, 2018, at Masonboro Baptist Church, 1501 Beasley Road, Wilmington, NC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
