YOAKUM: Robert Edward Jacobs, 86, completed his earthly journey Monday, December 24, 2018. He was born September 11, 1932 in Hope, Texas to the late McKinley "Mack" and Myrtle (Williams) Jacobs.
He served in the U.S. Army, retired from Texas Dept. of Transportation after 31 years of service, was a former Yoakum Hospital District Board member, Salem Cemetery Association President, Hope Community Center Board President, Hope Livestock Association Board member and Lavaca County Agricultural Appraisal Board member. He was Acting Deacon of Hope Baptist Church and a former Sunday School teacher. His greatest love was his Lord, his family and ranching.
He married Joyce Wilkerson June 21,1952 at Hope Baptist Church. They celebrated 66 years together.

Funeral Service 10 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Williams and Rev. William Walker officiating. Burial to follow at Salem Cemetery.
