Preston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for Mabel Skaggs, 79, who died Saturday, February 10, 2001, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Skaggs was born November 21, 1921, in Magoffin County, to the late James and Frona Blanton Conley. She was a member of Chestnut Grove Enterprise Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Skaggs, on July 2, 2000. Surviving are one son, Stanley Skaggs; six daughters, Judy Salyer of Wittensville, Denise Sparks of Lowmansville, and Darcie Rogers, Debbie Miller, Jewell Blevins and Kathy Ross, all of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Hager Conley of Marion, Ohio; two sisters, Katherine Barnett of Salyersville and Kay Howard of Ohio; and 26 grandchildren and 21 great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at Chestnut Grove Enterprise Baptist Church, with Terry Conley and Ellis Hamilton officiating. Burial followed in Skaggs-Young Cemetery at Lowmansville.PH
