Jane was born c. 1800 in IN or OH, according to the census records of her children. Her parents are James and Mary Stewart. On Jan. 5, 1826, she married James Gregg in Montgomery Co, IN. Nine children were born to this union. In 1839, James and Jane and their family moved to what became Adams Township, DeKalb Co, MO. Tradition states James and Jane died 6 months apart, leaving the youngest children orphaned. The older siblings were appointed as guardians of the younger siblings. James and Jane were both buried in unmarked graves in the Wamsley cemetery. Markers from the 1840s were uprights and any marker placed on their grave was done in the 2000s and is not the original marker.
